RRB JE Recruitment 2026: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 04/2026 for recruitment to various Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) posts. According to the detailed notification, a total of 3,993 vacancies are available across all RRBs.
The online application process has started on 14 August 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications online up to 13 September 2026 at 11:59 PM. RRB JE Vacancy 2026
The detailed CEN 04/2026 notification announces 3,993 vacancies for various Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent categories across different Railway Recruitment Boards, Railway Zones and Production Units.
The vacancy distribution is provided in Annexure-B of the notification and includes category-wise vacancies for UR, SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates, along with applicable reservations. The vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease depending on Railway Administration requirements.
Eligibility Criteria for RRB JE Recruitment 2026
Candidates must carefully check the post-wise qualification because the educational requirement varies according to the Junior Engineer category.
The prescribed qualification must be obtained from a recognized University, Institute or equivalent authority on or before 13 September 2026. Candidates awaiting the final result of the required qualification are not eligible to apply.
Junior Engineer Educational Qualification
For different JE categories, the notification prescribes relevant three-year Diploma in Engineering or equivalent discipline, while higher qualifications such as a relevant engineering degree may also be accepted where specified.
For example, the Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics-related JE posts may require a three-year diploma in the relevant engineering discipline or eligible combinations of sub-streams. Civil JE posts have their corresponding Civil Engineering qualification requirements.
The notification also groups engineering qualifications into Mechanical & Allied, Electrical & Allied, Electronics & Allied, and Civil & Allied Engineering exam groups for the second-stage CBT.
Depot Material Superintendent Qualification
For the Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) post, candidates must have a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution. Higher qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech are also acceptable in lieu of the three-year diploma in the same discipline, as specified in the notification.
RRB JE Age Limit 2026
The age of candidates will be calculated as on 01 January 2027. Minimum Age: 18 years, Maximum Age: 33 years. Age Relaxation as per rules.
RRB JE 2026 Salary
Selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month.
The actual monthly salary will also include admissible allowances and benefits as applicable under Railway rules.
