SSC JE Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Junior Engineer (Civil)
Depending on the organization, candidates may require:
- Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute; or
- Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute/board, along with the prescribed experience where applicable.
For example, BRO and MES require the prescribed engineering qualification along with experience for candidates applying through the diploma route.
Junior Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)
The required qualification varies by department. Depending on the post, candidates may need a degree or three-year diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with prescribed experience for certain posts.
Junior Engineer (Telecom)
For JE (Telecom) in the Department of Telecommunications, candidates require a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in specified disciplines including Electrical, Electronics, Electrical Communications, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology or Instrumentation from a recognized university/institute.
Scientific Assistant in IMD
Candidates require a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics as one of the subjects, or a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Telecommunication Engineering, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Telecommunication Engineering or Communication Engineering.
Important: Where experience is prescribed, the experience must have been acquired after obtaining the requisite educational qualification. Internship, training and research experience obtained during the course of acquiring the qualification will not count as the prescribed experience.
SSC JE Age Limit 2026
The crucial date for calculating age is August 1, 2026. For posts having an upper age limit of 30 years, candidates must have been born between August 2, 1996 and August 1, 2008. For posts having an upper age limit of 32 years, candidates must have been born between August 2, 1994 and August 1, 2008. Age Relaxation as per government rules.
SSC JE Application Fee 2026
The application fee is ₹100. However, women candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. The last date for online fee payment is September 23, 2026, up to 11:00 PM.
