Gram Panchayat Election Gujarat 2021 : The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday announced the date of elections for a total of 10,879 gram panchayats across Gujarat. Gram Panchayat Election Gujarat 2021 With the announcement of elections on 22.11.2021 in the areas under Gram Panchayat elections, the Code of Ideal Elections comes into force. In these 102 estimated gram panchayats, election of 102 panchs as well as election of members will be held in approximately 203 wards.

A Total of 27,200 candidates are in the fray for the Elections of Sarpanch and 1,19,998 for panchayat MEMBERS.
The rights to hold Gram Panchayat elections which have been handed over to the provincial officers from 2 (2) -2011-9, dated 17-9-2011, will be issued by them in the declaration of Gram Panchayat elections.

The gram panchayats polls are not fought on party symbols, and candidates need to contest in their personal capacity, with voters electing one sarpanch and a specified number of panchayat members.
On December 19, voters queued up since 7 a.m. to elect heads of various village panchayats and ward member. The polling will continue till 6 p.m.
As many as 1,165 village panchayats and 9,613 wards were declared as “totally uncontested”, where representatives were elected unopposed, as per the Gujarat State Election Commission. Such panchayats are called ‘samras’ in Gujarat. Besides, 473 sarpanches have been elected in a “partially uncontested” process (where only one candidate for the post of sarpanch was left after the withdrawal of nominations while polls for other seats were being held), it said.
