The Government of India has approved the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana on 29th February, 2024 to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity.

The Scheme has an outlay of Rs. 75,021 Crore and it to be implement till FY 2026-27. The Scheme is to be implemented through the National Portal. The National Portal has been receiving application from DISCOM consumers for installation of rooftop solar since the date of launch of the scheme viz. 13th February 2024. These Installation are to be done by vendors registration on the National Portal.
PM Surya Ghar Yojana 2025
- PM Surya Ghar Yojana in Gujarati Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana 2024, all the poor families of the country will be given the benefit of this scheme.
- Under this scheme, solar rooftops will be installed on students’ houses. They can use 300 units of electricity per month for free.
- The government is going to invest 75000 crore rupees under this scheme. With this money, rooftop solar systems will be installed in one crore homes.
- New employment opportunities will be available to the youth under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for PM Surya Ghar Yojana
To avail this free electricity scheme, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Should be the owner of the residential house.
- Must have a valid electricity connection.
- Rooftop space must be suitable for solar panel installation.
- Should not have claimed any similar government solar subsidy before.
Muft Bijli Yojana 2025 Registration
- Go to -> https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in
- Click on Apply for Rooftop Solar Option
- Register in the Portal with the following
- Select your State
- Select your District
- Select Electricity Distribution Company
- Enter Your Consumer Account Number
- Enter Mobile
- Login with Mobile Number Apply for rooftop
- Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM
- Once installation is completed, submit the plant details and apply for net meter.
- Commissioning Certificate will be generated fro the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM
- Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
